Wifag // Polytype

The wifag // polytype group with locations in Asia, Europe and the USA produces various industrial machines, including wide format printers and packaging systems amongst other things.

For the field of offset-printing Ergosign developed an HMI (Human Machine Interface) for printing-control-stations. These control-stations are equipped with several (multi touch) displays, on which the printing-processes can be configured, observed and controlled. Ergosign implemented a generic UI design concept which can also be used for further wifag // polytype products at a later point in time. The goal of the concept was to ensure consistency with regard to information visualization and operating procedures across the entire range of products. On an interaction-level the results of an extensive context analysis with selected customers of the client served as a basis for the UI design and on a visual level the wifag // polytype group’s corporate design served as a starting point.

Besides the design related work, Ergosign delivered an implementation in WPF, consisting of numerous custom controls, various stylings and diverse views. This project was a successful cooperation between the two Ergosign teams from Zurich (UI Design) and Saarbrücken (UI Development).
